Sum frequency generation (up-conversion) is used in the femtosecond optically
gated (FOG) fluorescence kinetic
measurement system FOG-100 to achieve a temporal resolution of better than 100
femtoseconds. New version of the
system has been designed to be matched with any type of femtosecond laser
operating at > 1 kHz pulse repetition
rate.
The system includes optical and mechanical components installed on a breadboard,
monochromator, selected
photon counting PMT, electronic unit, PC software, installation and test
measurements. The electronic unit contains
photon counter, step motor driver, computer controlled PMT power supply and low
voltage power supplies.
FOG-100 enables researches to study femtosecond kinetic in semiconductors,
optical telecommunication elements,
organic materials, plasma etc. Results of recent research of ultrafast chemical
kinetic with FOG100, including energy
transfer, electron transfer, emission, vibrational and conformal dynamics,
isomerization, photoionization, anisotropy
dynamics, hot carriers etc. are reviewed in this contribution.
