2nd International Symposium on Solar Fuels and Solar Cells

The organization committee kindly invites you to participate in the 2nd International Symposium on Solar Fuels and Solar Cells, a post satellite meeting of the 15th International
Photosynthesis Congress, which will be held at Dalian during August 28-31, 2010. Energy has emerged as a major challenge for the global sustainable development in the 21
century and long term afterwards. Development of renewable energy that can replace the fossil fuels is in highly demanding. Solar energy is abundant, clean and renewable, thus considered to be the idealist energy sources for the future. However, powering the planet with solar energy still faces huge challenges ahead. The scope of this symposium mainly focuses on artificial photosynthesis for the solar fuels and the development of novel techniques for the generation of solar electricity, which are the two major research directions in solar energy utilization. The aim of this symposium is to provide a forum for international academics, researchers, scientists, and students to exchange and share their experiences, ideas, and research results in the development of solar fuels and solar cells, discuss recent advances and the scientific challenges encountered for the efficient solar energy conversion and utilization, and identify the future research directions for the development of “Solar Energy Economy”.

Future nanostructures and biological nanosystems will take advantage not only of the small dimensions of the objects but of the specific way of interaction between nano-objects.
