Introduction
A compact spectrometer model ASP‐100M comprises a spectrograph, based
on Cherny‐Turner optical scheme and a registration system based on a
multichannel detector.
The ASP‐100M spectrometer may be used for various applications:
‐ laser wavelength monitoring
‐ plasma control
‐ precise spectral analysis of powerful light sources etc.
ASP‐100M features tunable registration spectrum area leading to increase in
resolution over a wide spectral domain.
ASP‐100M is equipped with a multichannel detector based on a CCD array with
pixel size of 8 µm x 200
µm that ensures high spectral resolution.

Installation and Operation
Prior to device installation, please ensure that the working space
for the device meets the following requirements:
Ambient conditions:
Operating temperature ___________________________________15‐400Ñ
Storage temperature_____________________________________10‐400Ñ
Relative humidity________________________________________25‐80% (operation),
10‐90% (storage)
Air pressure___________________________________________ 96‐104 kPa
If the device has been transported or stored at temperatures below 0 C,
then
please leave the device unpacked for 24 hours at temperature 15‐200 C before
turning the device on.
Package Contents
1. Spectrometer ASP‐100M 1
2. USB cable 1
3. Direct sync cable 1
4. Reverse sync cable 1
5. Removable aperture 1
6. Software CD 1
7. Varying height mount 1
8. Additional rod for mount 1
System Requirements
Minimum PC configuration: Pentium processor, monitor resolution 1024×728.
Operational systems Windows98/2000/Me/XP.
Installation
1. Please remove the protective cap from the spectrometer input.
2. Place the device on clear horizontal surface.
3. Supply the monitored radiation to the spectrometer input by using the fiber
cable or by directly lighting the input slit at right angle.
Important! Do not use fiber cable when measuring the femtosecond pulses due to
signal modulation in fiber.
4. Install ReSpect software from the supplied CD following the instructions laid
out
in «Driver and Software Installation» section.
5. Connect USB cable to your computer and to the spectrometer.
6. Follow the instructions below from the paragraph: «Software and driver
installation»,
7. You can find the information about ReSpect software and its functionality in
the
«Help» submenu in the program itself.
8. Refer to “Synchronization” section for sync options.
Software and Driver Installation in Windows XP
1) Please insert the installation CD into your CD‐ROM drive.
2) Connect the spectrometer to your PC via USB port.
3) The operational system will find the new device and show the message in the
lower right corner of
the screen «New hardware found». Then the following window will appear on the
screen:
Please select «No, not this time» and press «Next».
In the next window select «Install from a list or specific location» as shown in
the picture:
Press «Next».
In the following menu:
Indicate the location where the drivers of the device are. Press “Browse”, then
select your CD drive
letter (with the installation disk inserted), and then choose folder «Driver».
Then press «Next».
Press “Continue anyway” in the next window
The installer will then ask for the “SLLOADER” and (or) “usb2ph” files, they are
also located in the
“Driver” folder of the installation CD.
After the installation click “Finish”.
4) If the window “Found New Hardware” appears again then please repeat the Step
3.
5) Install and run “ReSpect”
(CD‐drive:\ ReSpect‐1.7.1.0‐Ormins\ReSpectSetup‐1.7.1.0‐Ormins_1.exe)
Basic functions
1) Single measurement: Run Single
2) Continuous scanning: Run Endless
3) Background signal subtraction: Take baseline
4) Exposure setting (7 – 20000 ms):
Or click button on the control panel and set the necessary exposition time:
5) Spectral sensitivity correction:
(if the tick is present at “Bypass” then the correction is OFF, if there is no
tick, then correction is ON)
6) Automatic record of last obtained data into a .dat file:
In the next window tick “Auto export ASCII” item. The data of the last scanning
will be automatically
recorded to the AutoExport.dat file, which is located in the root folder of the
software.
P.S. The “Help” menu allocates many useful tips and full manual of the ReSpect
software.
P.P.S. The software can also be used under Windows 98SE / Millennium /2000.
Synchronization
If the input pulse repetition rate is lower or equal to 10 Hz the camera needs
to be synchronized by an
external trigger pulse with positive polarity, having amplitude of 5‐20 V, and
leading the optical pulse by
>1 us. The external trigger is supplied to the camera via an included cable that
is marked with an arrow
in the direction of the camera. The other cable that is marked with an arrow
pointing in the direction
from the camera is used when it is necessary to use the internal trigger pulse
of the camera itself.
The following actions should be taken after the cable is connected:
1) Select “Options” and then “Setup Driver”, as shown below:
2) In the following window:
Select “External triggering” if you use the external trigger or “Internal with
output sync” if you wish to
use the camera’s own trigger pulse.
Click “Ok”.
3) Then for single pulse measurement click “Run Single”, and for registering a
sequence of pulses
choose “Run Endless” in the “Acquisition” tab as shown below:
Service and Maintenance
Your ASP‐100M spectrometer should only be serviced by staff qualified by the
manufacturer.
The only user maintenance operation is external panel cleaning.
External panel cleaning
The cleaning should be carried out by a soft cloth slightly moistened in water
or weak
soap solution.
Do not use extremely wet sponges or fabrics.
Do not use abrasive materials or solvents as they can damage the paint.
